Brisbane Leadlight Service was commissioned to create a stained-glass window in honor of the Martyrs of Vietnam. The window consists of 18 individual panels and measures 7.8m high x 3.5 m wide, making it one of the biggest stained-glass windows in Brisbane. Ninety percent of the glass used for this window is mouth blown antique from Lamberts in Germany and Saint Just from France. The quality of the glass is a delight to work with and the variety and intensity of colors is unmatched. The procedures to the glass that were used include: - Painting details by hand, using a couple of mediums such as water and oil. Other procedures include blasting, acid etching, fire polish, plating and silver staining. The overall window took 11 months to complete and a week to install.

Glass pieces that had been fully painted were laid out on one of the light boxes to inspect the overall appearance before assembled with lead cams.

Individual pieces which have been fully hand painted.

Close up of some of the panels which have been leaded, cemented, polish and installed into subframes with reinforcing bars. Ready to be fitted into the main frame on site.
